About
The NZ new-build reference directory
A plain-English NZ new-build directory. House-and-land vs build-on-section, what to ask, who's building well in your region. Opinionated, kiwi, no salesy fluff.
Who this is for
First-home and second-home buyers in New Zealand comparing new-build options across 9 group home companies in 10 regions. Buyers who want to read a wall section before a floor-plan render, and to understand exactly what a Master Build Guarantee covers before a salesperson explains it.
Listing standards
Every company on the directory is an operating NZ new-build business — group home franchise, transportable specialist, or established regional operator — with verifiable membership of Master Build Services or Certified Builders, and Site Safe registration where the scope of work requires it. Independent guarantee status is checked against the public registry before listing and re-confirmed annually. Placement is editorial; it cannot be purchased.
Editorial principles
- No price quotes. Build prices move with section, specification, and timing — any number on a third-party website is a guess.
- No build-time promises. The directory will, at most, note where a builder has held schedule on similar work; nothing further.
- No legal interpretation. A residential build contract belongs with a lawyer. The directory flags clauses worth asking about; it does not interpret them.
